247 PM CDT THU MAR 14 2019

The National Weather Service in Jackson has extended the

* Flood Warning for...
Northwestern Warren County in west central Mississippi...
Northwestern Yazoo County in central Mississippi...
Central Issaquena County in west central Mississippi...
Southeastern Sharkey County in west central Mississippi...

* Until 345 PM CDT Monday.

* Emergency management has reported ongoing flooding in these areas
due to rising backwater from the closure of the Steele Bayou gates
and excessive rainfall runoff from areas upstream. In addition,
the Muddy Bayou Structure has now been opened which will cause
Eagle Lake to continue to rise.

* The gage at Steele Bayou is at 96.3 feet as of 2pm on March 14 and
is expected to reach 97 to 97.5 feet. The extent of the current
flood waters is expected to increase in area through this week.
This flood warning will likely be updated again on Monday.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Valley Park, Holly Bluff, Fitler, Eagle Lake, Onward and Satartia.

* Major thoroughfares such as Highway 61 North and South remain
open, but Highway 465 between Highway 61 and Eagle Lake, Highway
16 between Rolling Fork and Holly Bluff, and several smaller
county roads are closed due to this flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.
